At the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, the Institute of Protestant Theology invites applications for the

Chair (W3) of Systematic Theology (Protestant) with a Focus on Ethics

to be filled as of April 1, 2027.

Key Duties and Academic Responsibilities

The chair will represent systematic theology (dogmatics and ethics) in teaching within the degree programs of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science and the teacher training programs, in research with a focus on ethics. A special opportunity for collaboration in research and teaching at TUD is the possibility of interdisciplinary cooperation with all subjects in the humanities and social sciences as well as the natural and engineering sciences and medicine. Teaching responsibilities include supervising student theses and dissertations. Other duties of the chair include participation in academic self-administration and in the committees of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science and TUD.

Requirements & Candidate Profile

You (m/f/x) have in-depth knowledge of systematic theology (Protestant) and your research focus is in the field of ethics. Your willingness and ability to build interdisciplinary bridges is an indispensable prerequisite for successful work at the Institute of Protestant Theology. We therefore hope that you will participate in the research networks of TUD and actively collaborate with DRESDEN-concept partners. You demonstrate your qualifications through relevant publications, the development and implementation of positively evaluated courses, success in acquiring third-party funding and commitment to knowledge transfer. Your active participation in academic self-governance is a given. A reflective working style, cooperative spirit, strategic thinking, sense of responsibility, and motivating leadership of interdisciplinary and diverse teams complete your profile.

The requirements for appointment, the official duties and the administrative status are governed by §§ 59, 69, 71 of the Act on Higher Education Institutions in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG) and the Saxon Regulation on Official Duties at Higher Education Institutions (HSDAVO).
