At the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Geosciences the Institute of Geography invites applications for the
Chair (W3) of Computational Landscape Ecology
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences unites forestry, geosciences and hydrosciences under one roof, which is unique in Germany. Overarching core topics are monitoring and modeling of the Earth system on global, regional and local scales as well as the sustainable development of the human habitat. The faculty’s interdisciplinary and international orientation creates great synergy potentials and diverse interfaces in research and teaching.
?>Key Duties and Academic Responsibilities??>You (m/f/x) will represent the field of landscape ecology in research and teaching. In research, you will develop contributions with a distinct profile in landscape ecology and a focus on the use and development of methods for spatio-temporal modeling and analysis of global changes in the context of land use, ecosystems and biodiversity. For your research, you will establish interdisciplinary collaborations and initiate joint research projects in national and international funding programs in close cooperation with partners from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, from other faculties and scientific institutions of TUD and from DRESDEN-concept institutions. You will offer your teaching in German and English in the field of the chair's dedication within the Geography degree programs (Bachelor, Master, Teaching Qualification for Secondary Schools and Grammar Schools), in other degree programs of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences as well as for neighboring faculties. You are actively involved in the further development of the degree programs of the Department of Geosciences and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. You are engaged in the supervision of young scientists, in the supervision of theses and dissertations as well as in academic self-administration within the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and TUD.
?>Requirements & Candidate Profile ??>We are looking for you as a recognized personality with an international scientific track record and international networks in the field of model-based landscape ecology. You can demonstrate extensive experience in these areas through publications in international peer-reviewed journals as well as, the successful acquisition of third-party funding (in particular DFG, BMBF, EU and comparable). You have relevant teaching experiences, very good teaching skills and experience in supervising junior scientists, theses and dissertations. Experiences in stakeholder-centered research as well as in science transfer complete your profile.
